Ameriquest’s problems haven’t helped it’s servicing arm at all. Since the closing of the retail lending offices and letting nearly four-thousand people go, Ameriquest has been trying to find someone to acquire the company.

The future for the servicing arm of Ameriquest (which grew out of their acquisition of Bedford Home Loans) is unclear.

As of September of 2006, AMC services approximately 437,000 loans totaling $71.2 billion.

In the last four years, its parent company, Ameriquest was involved in 998 Federal civil lawsuits, the vast majority of which involved the origination side of the business. It should be noted that until AMC Mortgage Servicing has been functioning separately for a longer period of time, the numbers of lawsuits it is involved with will be comparatively low.

Note that this company should not be confused with Maryland-based AMC Mortgage, a broker that has been in business for many years and is, in fact, suing ACC/Ameriquest for trademark infringement.

Note that a score is not shown for AMC because the score exceeds the limits of the formula as a result of the number of loan originating (predatory lending) issues with its parent, Ameriquest. In addition, extricating the relatively new servicing division’s litigation history is impractical for the time being.
