Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. |
|
After all these years involved in consumer issues, it’s clear to us there’s far too much “doing the same thing over and over again” and expecting better results. While the Internet was and is an important tool in consumer advocacy and education, we’ve discovered many people are faced with conflicting views and even outright fraudulently-contrived and anonymous or questionable sources of information. As always in a free public environment, there is no shortage of bad advice. And when it comes to trying to learn what you need to know on the Internet, there is also such a thing as information overload. Too many people find it overwhelming, especially when confronted with the need to do something under the pressure of a financial crises. There are literally thousands of pages of glossary definitions, hundreds of blogs and dozens of forums on the Internet. There are also hundreds of companies trying to steer web searches into advertisements, so finding useful information can be a frustrating, ad-filled experience. And the hours of time in front of a computer are impractical or even impossible for some. We came to the conclusion that the only effective long-term answer is to educate current and prospective consumers as rapidly as possible. And despite the attraction of the Internet, we are dedicated to publishing crucial consumer information in print as well as offering versions in printable file downloads. Our links to More Resources (above left) will lead you to other important web sites with valuable information. |
